Happy August!!
How did you start off the new month?
Are you burdened?
Think of something stressing you out right now.
Are you overworked or shriveled from over thinking?
Some phases in life truly require to be thought deeply about. Nonetheless, are you trying to figure it out without giving room for God to do what only Him can do?
Anxiety is real, and it tries to steal our identity.
Wednesday, the 4th of August, 2021
Shortly after graduating from the University, Nigerians are deployed to different states of the federation to serve their fatherland. We’ve heard several stories about it, but nobody explained the anxiety that comes with it— or did we just not relate? I’ll have to admit that it’s hard being a soldier.
Being in that shoe now, I can say that anxiety is no joke, and if we’re not careful, we may lose ourselves completely, forgetting the identity Christ clothes us with. This reminds me of the movie, Overcomer—where a little girl was encouraged to study the first two chapters of Ephesians to discover her identity in Christ.
Many are at that bridge now. I am too. The stress of whatever we’re going through needs a reaffirmation of what God has said in His Word— “I will never leave you nor forsake you”.
Going through the motions, I shared this burden with my sister, Lotanna, and she recommended Isaiah 51, which was her source of strength when she needed encouragement. Thankfully, that was the strength I needed to carry on. Verses 12-13 particular verse stood out for us:
“I, even I, am he who comforts you.
Who are you that you fear mere mortals,
human beings who are but grass,
that you forget the Lord your maker,
who stretches out the heavens and who lays the foundations of the earth, that you live in constant terror every day because of the wrath of the oppressor who is bent on destruction?”
Like me, if crying helps, then cry if you must, but remember that even in the deepest depths of darkness, the Lord is for us; He will never leave us nor forsake us. You can trust Him.
Thank the Lord for brothers and sisters in Christ, who fulfill the law of Christ by carrying our burdens with us!
Goodbyes
It’s okay to be overwhelmed, but it’s never okay to stay overwhelmed. Dust yourself up and remind yourself of who you are in Christ.
