They run like mighty men, They climb the wall like men of war; Every one marches in formation, And they do not break ranks.- Joel 2:7 NKJV
Early this year, I had to let substack off for sometime because of Law School. The weight was much, but I was hopeful it was just a phase. Examinations ended in March, 2021 and when July came, everything began to happen so fast. Our Bar results were out and a lot of us didn’t make it.
God-willing, I, like every other successful candidate, already had our victory pictures, like murals, well painted in our heads. We were going to speak of our distresses and tell the world how God saved us, but sadly, our victory stories didn’t look as perfect as we wanted since we were shattered with the news of people’s failures. For many, the visceral fear set in, “how do we rejoice genuinely, without coming off as too much”?
Here’s some relief— God looks deep deep into our hearts to search our motives for doing every single thing. And even when you keep mute, God is glorified. His glory fills the earth, and the created cannot stand in His way.
Today may not be your day to smile, but God wants us to look intently at what He’s teaching us in every season. Asides having a law degree, who are you, truly? What’s your true identity?
Many are already getting juicy opportunities, some are looking foolish for keeping in step with the Spirit and trusting God, while some don’t even want anything to do with the legal profession after the ceremony. Whatever be the case, God is good.
We were all made for a purpose, and it’ll be foolishness to take take on that of another without carefully considering that which God has called us to do. His plan for you is BIG. See why there’s no room for envy? Because my purpose is different from yours.
…Each soldier does what he’s told,so disciplined, so determined.
They don’t get in each other’s way.
Each one knows his job and does it.
Undaunted and fearless,
unswerving, unstoppable...”
- Joel 2:7-11 MSG
Here’s to the new wigs, that you run in the tracks mapped out for you, and not break ranks 🥂.
Goodbyes
Great men rejoice in adversity, just as brave soldiers triumph in war.
- Seneca the Younger
Till next time,
Wednesday, God-willing.
